Hello my dear audience for today's article I'd thought that I would expose some false teachings in the church by pointing out over twenty quotes of some of today's most influential and/or notorious professing believers.
.
Here are 20 false teachings to avoid.
1. Prosperity Gospel (Fred Price)
"The whole point is I’m trying to get you to see – to get you out of this malaise of thinking that Jesus and the disciples were poor and then relating that to you – thinking that you, as a child of God, have to follow Jesus. The Bible says that He has left us an example that we should follow His steps. That’s the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce. I’m following Jesus’ steps."
1Ti_6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
2. Little gods doctrine (Kenneth Copeland)
"You see, Adam was walking as a God. Adam walked into God’s class. Adam did things in the class of god’s. Hallelujah! What he said went, what he did counted, and what and when he said and when he acted on the fact that and bowed on his knee to Satan and put Satan up above him, then there wasn’t anything God could do about it cause a god had placed him there. But in doing so he bowed his knee to his enemy, to God’s enemy and his, Satan, and the nature of Satan then was lodged in his spirit forever unless God could do something about it, because man could not. Why couldn’t he? I thought you said he was a god. He was created in the god class, but when he committed high treason, he fell below the god class."
"He is a spirit and Jesus said that ‘the time will come and now is that they that worship Him worship Him in spirit and in truth’ and He imparted in you when you were born again. Peter said it just as plain. He said, ‘we are partakers of the divine nature.’ That nature is life eternal in absolute perfection and that was imparted, injected into your spirit, man, and you have that imparted into you by God just as same as you imparted into your child the nature of humanity. That child wasn’t born a whale, but born a human. Isn’t that true? Well now, you don’t have a human, do you, no, you are one. You don’t have a God in you, you are one."
Mar_12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
3. Legalism (BibleFlockbox)
"Many Christians are under the impression that the Old Testament law of unclean meats was abolished by the New Covenant. They point to a number of New Testament scriptures to try and prove this. The problem is, all of those scriptures are misinterpreted. The New Covenant doesn't abolish the law of unclean meats! That law still applies to Christians today. God doesn't want His people to eat pork and other unclean animals."
Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
4. Easy-Believism (Lewis Sperry Chafer)
“As before stated,
repentance, which is a change of mind, is included in
believing. No individual can turn to Christ from some
other confidence without a change of mind, and that,
it should be noted, is all the repentance a
spiritually dead individual can ever effect. That
change of mind is the work of the Spirit (Eph. 2:8).
It will be considered, too, by those who are amenable
to the Word of God, that the essential preparation of
heart which the Holy Spirit accomplishes in the
unsaved to prepare them for an intelligent and
voluntary acceptance of Christ as Savior – as defined
in John 16:8-11 – is not a sorrow for sin. The unsaved
who come under this divine influence are illuminated –
given a clear understanding – concerning but one sin,
namely, that ‘they believe not on me’.”
Gal_3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal_3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
5. Easy Believism 2 (David J. Stewart)
"I am going to
Heaven, regardless of
how I live. But you say, that's crazy! No! That's Bible!"
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
6. Jesus Payed for Sin in Hell (Joyce Meyer)
She explains Christ’s atonement: “During
that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because
of our sin. He paid the price there ... no plan was too extreme ... Jesus
paid on the cross and in hell” (The Most Important Decision You
Will Ever Make 1991 p. 35,). “He went to hell to pay the debt you owed.
(p.41 first edition)
Col_1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
7. Sowing a Seed (Mike Murdock)
"You
can't wait another day or two for your healing or miracle...go to the
phone and sow your $1,000 seed for your harvest."
(Mike
Murdock, LeSea Television, Miracle Telethon, April 20, 2004)
Act 8:20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Act 8:21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
8. More than one way to Heaven? (Joel O steen?)
King: What if you’re Jewish or Muslim, you don’t accept Christ at all?
Osteen: You know, I’m very careful about saying who would and wouldn’t go to heaven. I don’t know.
King: If you believe you have to believe in Christ? They’re wrong, aren’t they?
Osteen: Well, I don’t know if I believe they’re wrong. I believe here’s what the Bible teaches and from the Christian faith this is what I believe. But I just think that only God will judge a person’ heart. I spent a lot of time in India with my father. I don’t know all about their religion. But I know they love God. And I don’t know. I’ve seen their sincerity. So I don’t know. I know for me, and what the Bible teaches, I want to have a relationship with Jesus.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
1Co 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
9. Modalism (Steven Furtick)
“How could you say something like that Jesus?” Furtick says. “How could you say it is good that you are going away? We followed you. We trusted you and now you are leaving us.
“No, I am not leaving you,” Furtick adds. “I am changing forms. Up until now I have walked with you, but when I send my spirit I will be in you, so I am not leaving you, I’m just changing locations.”
Joh 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
Joh 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
10. Taking the mark and still be saved (John Mccarther)
“Now, the question is,
if you’re
living in the Tribulation period, and you take this mark, in other words, you
identify with the beast’s
empire, will you still be able to be redeemed? And I think the answer to that
is yes. Yes!"
Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11. Tithing makes you Undamnable (Creflo Dollar)
"If you take time to tithe, and tithe correctly it is impossible to go to hell..."
But, if they were non-tithers, the bar would lock up, the red and blue lights would start going, the sirens would go off and
a voice would go off throughout the entire dome “Crook, crook, crook, crook.”
Security would go and apprehend them and, once we
got them all together, we would line them all up in the front and pass out Oozies by the ushers. We’d point the Oozies
right at all those non-tithing members ‘cause we want God to come to church …”
… and, at the count of three “Jesuses”
we’d shoot them all dead.
...Aren’t you glad we’re under the blood of Jesus? ‘Cause, if we were not under the blood of Jesus, I would
certainly try it.
Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Gal 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Authors note: Somebody show me the verse in the bible that says to kill non-tithers, even under the old covenant, I'm 99.9% sure it's not there. Because if it's not there wouldn't that make Creflo a murderer, who adds to the word of God? There are plenty of verses that tell thieves to restore however.
12. Polytheism (Joseph Smith)
“Hence, the doctrine of a plurality of Gods is as prominent in the Bible as any other doctrine. It is all over the face of the Bible . . . Paul says there are Gods many and Lords many . . . but to us there is but one God–that is pertaining to us; and he is in all and through all”
(History of the Church, Vol. 6, page 474).
“In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it.”
(Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 5).
Isa_44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
13. Jesus didn't claim to be Messiah (John Hagee)
" . . . since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered?"
Mar 14:61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Mar 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Joh 7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
14. Jesus is Michael the Archangel (Ellen G. White)
EGW: "Satan the tempter had claimed the body of Moses because of his sin; but Christ the Saviour brought him forth from the grave." Desire of Ages, p.421.
EGW: Moses passed through death, but Michael came down and gave him life before his body had seen corruption. Satan tried to hold the body, claiming it as his; but Michael resurrected Moses and took him to heaven. Satan railed bitterly against God, denouncing Him as unjust in permitting his prey to be taken from him; but Christ did not rebuke His adversary, though it was through his temptation that the servant of God had fallen. He meekly referred him to His Father, saying, "The Lord rebuke thee." Early Writings, p. 164.
EGW: "For three weeks Gabriel wrestled with the powers of darkness, seeking to counteract the influences at work on the mind of Cyrus; and before the contest closed, Christ Himself came to Gabriel's aid." Prophets and Kings, p.572
Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
15. No Free Will (John Piper)
…God is the only being who is ultimately self-determining, and is himself ultimately the disposer of all things, including all choices — however many or diverse other intervening causes are. On this definition, no human being has free will, at any time. Neither before or after the fall, or in heaven, are creatures ultimately self-determining. There are great measures of self-determination, as the Bible often shows, but never is man the ultimate or decisive cause of his preferences and choices. When man’s agency and God’s agency are compared, both are real, but God’s is decisive. Yet — and here’s the mystery that causes so many to stumble — God is always decisive in such a way that man’s agency is real, and his responsibility remains.
“God . . . brings about all things in accordance with his will. In other words, it isn’t just that God manages to turn the evil aspects of our world to good for those who love him; it is rather that he himself brings about these evil aspects for his glory (see Ex. 9:13-16; John 9:3) and his people’s good (see Heb. 12:3-11; James 1:2-4). This includes—as incredible and as unacceptable as it may currently seem—God’s having even brought about the Nazis’ brutality at Birkenau and Auschwitz as well as the terrible killings of Dennis Rader and even the sexual abuse of a young child…"
Jer 5:8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.
Jer 5:9 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jer_9:2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
16. Mariolatry (Louis De Montfort)
"…it is not something extra that we do, it is something
essential. You must have devotion to Mary. Because if you have devotion to
Mary, she is the one who will bring us the closest to Christ.”
Jer_7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
17. Timing of the Rapture (Benny Hinn) What follows is an excerpt from letusreason.org
On the November 9, 1990 Praise-a-Thon, Hinn told Crouch his new revelation.
“Paul, I can say this -- Are you ready for this? We may have two years
before the rapture. . . Can I be blunt with ya? I don't know if we have two
years left. . . I'm gonna prove to you from the Word tonight, that we have
less than two years.”
Two years makes it 1992, but 5 years after when it was to occur on the July
1997 fund-raiser telethon on TBN Benny Hinn said a newer revelation for those
who forgot the other new one, but this is 7 years later “Jesus is coming
again within the next two years” (Trinity Broadcasting Network).
Mar_13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
18. Old Earth (Hugh Ross)
"Many Christians are raised believing that to be true to God's Word means to accept that the universe, Earth, and life were created in six 24-hour days, only a few thousand years ago. Most people lack the theological and scientific tools to think through the implications of this teaching."
1Co_15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
1Co_15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
19. Can Homosexuals be saved? (Steven Anderson)
What follows is an excerpt from atruechurch.info which is a link given below.
On his video entitled, “'Born That Way?' (Pastor Anderson Guest Speaking at ASU . . .),” Anderson says,
". . . once people die and go to hell it's too late for them. Well, I'm just saying that the Bible teaches in many places that it can become too late for a person before that point sometimes, if they reject Christ enough. And I would say homosexuals fall into that category." (about 7:07f)
Both in the video and in his paper “The Truth about Homosexuals” Anderson uses Romans 1 to argue homosexuals cannot be saved. In the paper he writes,
"God has already rejected the sodomites."
This following is not an exact quote but Anderson has said something to the effect of,
If I had a button that I could push that would kill all the gays, I'd push it till my finger breaks.
1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Joh 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
20. Is Homosexuality a sin? (Lauren Daigle)
“I can’t honestly answer on that, in the sense of I have too many people that I love and they are homosexuals,” Daigle told the celebrity publicist.
“I can't say one way or the other, I’m not God. When people ask questions like that, I just say, ‘Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know because I’m learning too,’” she added.
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
To be fair I'm not God, I can't see inside of Lauren's heart. Maybe Lauren doesn't know if it's a sin. If she is telling the truth and not just saying that to avoid persecution or offending the world then I would inquire how long she has been a Christian when she made that statement. If she's been truly saved for several years then she has had no excuse for not reading her bible and finding that fact out for herself.
