Regarding Islam And Infanticide

For today's topic we will be going over what Islam's view is on the killing of babies by taking a look at a particular passage of  Muslim scripture, we will also be covering infanticide in general. I know this is a particular gruesome topic so I will try to keep this post short. With that said let's begin.

So in case you didn't know infanticide is the crime of killing a child or infant, throughout much of earth's history numerous societies of people practiced this abominable practice. There are several passages of the christian scripture that mention various nations doing this and how God abhors it.
While it is quite acceptable in many ancient pagan religions, surprisingly in Islam it is regarded as a great sin.

Quran Sura 17:31- And kill not your children for fear of poverty; We shall provide for them as well as for you. Surely, the killing of them is a great sin.

To this I say amen, I couldn't agree more with this, the shedding of innocent blood is indeed wrong as we see in 2Ki 24:4  And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

However, on the other hand there is another Muslim reference that I just have to say couldn't be more wrong! The verse in question is...
Sunan Abu Dawud 4717 "...The woman who buries her infant daughter alive, and the girl who is buried alive, are both in the Fire."

Did you get that according to this verse even the infant VICTIM is sentenced to the flames of hell. This (to me at least) seems to completely and totally go against the JUST, LOVING, RIGHTEOUS, AND MERCIFUL nature of God. A baby cannot be more innocent creature. Our Christian bible tells us the following:

1. 2Sa 12:23  But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
(This verse is about King David and his deceased infant son).
2. Mat 19:14  But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
(Mar 10:14  and Luk 18:16  read similarly)
3. 1Ti 2:4  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
4. Eze 18:20  The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
5. Deu 1:39  Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Based on the preceding verses along with other evidence it is this authors humble opinion that God wouldn't send any young child that didn't possess the knowledge of good and evil to hell. In conclusion we see that Islam teaches yet another doctrine that by all sound reasoning doesn't appear to be true.
